Derived from analysis of ancient archeological sites, where stone columns and plinths are worn and weathered into textured relics. The contemporary age has been called “the age of glass” due to the ubiquitous importance of glass in contemporary information technologies and modern architecture. Glass lenses and screens let us see out into the depths of the universe and the intricacies of microscopic worlds. Glass offers us a unique perspective on our place in the cosmos. We have therefore imagined what the “future relics” of this age of glass might look like, and have conceived of columns or stacks of glass that would react with changing patterns of light, reflecting and lensing the surrounding environment—an interactive, ever-changing monolith.
