Positioned centrally in the frame, against an ultra-green backdrop, the Malaysian model Ling Tan is seated and addresses the viewer directly with a steely stare, palms neatly crossed in front of her. Originally photographed for the Observer Life magazine in Milan in 1998, she is dressed in a luxurious deep red Dries Van Noten ensemble, comprised of an embroidered single-breasted cotton blazer and floor-length ball gown skirt.
